17 Christmas Solos For Sopranos

If you're reading this blog post, you may be either...

1) scrambling to find a solo for church or some other holiday performance

2) planning ahead...you got a few weeks, it's all good!

Either way, I am SO glad you're here! I love blogging about vocal repertoire and helping singers of all kinds.

If you're a soprano, you're in the right place!

Ready? I've got 17 amaaaazing Christmas vocal solos for you sopranos (higher voiced females).

This list will cover sacred songs that can be used for church, as well as secular songs that can be used for school, work, talent shows, cabaret shows...you name it!

Enjoy!

1) O Holy Night - In a higher key, this song is STUNNING! Absolutely beautiful song for church.

2) Christmas on the Square- Dolly Parton
This song is just so freaking ADORABLE (well, it's a Dolly song!)
Dolly is definitely a soprano, and perfect for those of you with some country in your hearts.  It's simple enough to be sung by children or beginners, too.

3) Mary, Did You Know?- Another religious song that people just love. Definitely play with some higher keys, such as g minor (musicnotes.com lets you listen to sound clips, before you select what key you need to print!)

4) I Wonder as I Wander-this is a beautiful, beautiful song and far from "overdone", if you ask me! Sopranos such as legend Julie Andrews and the delightful Jewel have covered this song. Maybe you'll love it for you ,too!

5) Santa Tell Me- Ariana Grande
I've had pop sopranos loooove singing this cute, happy song and the crowds loved it! I always love when one of my singers works on this one.

6) What Child is This?- This solo is especially gorgeous when sung by a soprano voice. Perfect for church!

7) Winter Wonderland- this is a song that works EVERYWHERE, right? The beauty of Christmas songs is you do them YOUR way, in the key that works best for you..so try a higher key to show off your soprano voice!

8) Twinkle Twinkle Little Me- The Supremes
This Christmas oldie is a cheerful one that some may not even know.....maybe this one is the right one for your Christmas performance?

9) I Saw Three Ships- Kiri Te Kanawa, operatic soprano, did a fabulous job, and so did Julie Andrews!

10) Christmas On My Radio- Olivia Newton-John
I love this mid-tempo pop song ! This would be perfect for a school performance, Christmas fundraiser, soooo many possibilities! As far as pop sopranos, you can't top ONJ!

11) Silent Night- Yes, an obvious choice, I know. But! Is it perfect for a soprano voice? You bet. All sorts of sopranos have done a beautiful job with this, from Dolly Parton to Leontyne Price.

12) Christmas Time's a-Comin'- Dolly Parton
Christmas with some country flair for sopranos! Another holly jolly original from ...DOLLY!

13) Away in a Manger- this traditional song may be simple, but it's lovely. Check out soprano Joan Baez's rendition, she sings it in French!

14) My Favorite Things- The Sound of Music
This show tune is also a Christmas song! It's perfect for all levels, all ages, all sopranos..and it works everywhere !

15) Wonderful Christmastime
This is originally a Paul McCartney song, but I love what Diana Ross did to it (I looove both legends) Check it out, sopranos!

16) Candy Cane Lane- Sia
This song is awesome for all ages, but especially charming when sung by the younger sopranos that love pop music. Sia is the coolest!

17) Silver Bells- I love so many versions of this, whether it's Dean Martin or Anne Murray, or Liberace, or Elvis....but since we're talkin' sopranos, listen to Renee Fleming or the Supremes!

What do you think of this list of Christmas solos for sopranos, my singer friends?

This is the time of year I love most, helping singers get ready to spread holiday cheer with their talent.

Do you have a holiday gig coming up? Maybe I can help you !
