1) Underneath the Tree- Kelly Clarkson
I LOVE this newer original pop song. Kelly has a KILLER belt-y mezzo voice, and if that's you, this song could be a great fit for you!
2) Do You Hear What I Hear?
Lots of fantastic mezzos, such as icon Whitney Houston, have done excellent renditions of this one.
Also, check out mezzo Carrie Underwood's version!
3) Christmas Waltz
My personal favorite version is by mezzo legend Ms. Peggy Lee, but others to check out are Laufey and Natalie Cole!
4) Away in a Manger
In a lower key, a simple and beautiful song for a mezzo voice, regardless of level or style. Reba McEntire is a mezzo that has covered it, along with Susan Boyle, and Amy Grant.
5) Where are You Christmas?- Faith Hill
This pop ballad from the Grinch movie is a great one! If there is a school holiday variety show or something of that nature, this is a solid choice.
6) Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
Originally in the film Meet Me in St. Louis , sung by ICON Judy Garland, and yes, absolutely a mezzo soprano voice.
Since then, TONS of other great mezzos have sung this, including Barbra Streisand, Kelly Clarkson, Norah Jones, Linda Ronstadt.and Hailey Reinhart.
7) Grown Up Christmas List
My favorite version is Natalie Cole's, but also check out mezzo sopranos like Aretha Franklin, Barbra Streisand, and Lauren Alaina so you get an idea of what sort of arrangement and key works best for you.
8) One More Sleep- Leona Lewis
I LOVE this song....and I love Leona's voice, don't you?
This fun and upbeat contemporary pop Christmas solo is great for a big holiday event, or Christmas karaoke...or anything!
9) Heart of Snow- Jordin Sparks
This is such a pretty original Christmas love song! A lovely ballad for winter, and great for a pop mezzo with a great range.
10) Jingle Bell Rock
Brenda Lee was a mezzo that sold this song back in the day with her powerful pipes, now big voiced mezzos that do a great job with this one include Kelly Clarkson and Alessia Cara .
11) Little Drummer Boy
Mezzo sopranos that have done a fabulous version include Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood...and mezzos Jennifer Nettles did this as a duet with another amaaaaazing mezzo, Idina Menzel! If you know another great mezzo, not a bad idea, right?
