I work with lots of talented teenaged musical theater performers. I am very lucky they chose ME to be their vocal coach!
In fact! I'd have to say they are my absolute favorite kind of student- sooooo passionate about their craft, and eager to learn allll of it!
One of the most enjoyable parts of vocal coaching is finding THE perfect audition song for all of my performers. The one that suits their personality and voice just perfectly!
Aaaand......when a musical theater performer is a skilled comedian? Well, that opens up some more doors.
In my last blog post, I listed 11 musical theater comedy songs for teen boys. This post is for the girls!
Here are 11 super fun musical theater comedy songs for teen girls. Here's to finding one (or more!) that you can't wait to perform...whether it be at an audition, a cabaret, or anything at all!
1) Stepsister's Lament- Cinderella
I have had soooo many girls so this song, and have an absolute blast with it! I mean, who hasn't wanted to play "the villain" at least once, right? Can easily be sung by all voice types.
2) Screw Loose- Cry Baby
Ah, this one is sooooo hilarious but also vocally impressive.
For the comedienne that can belt her face off!
3) Shy- Once Upon a Mattress
This is THE quintessential belter comedy song. It may be from the "golden age" of Broadway, but this show is still a theater geek favorite today thanks to many revivals starring great performers like Sutton Foster!
4) To Keep My Love Alive- A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court
Haven't heard of this show? Don't worry, no one has! However, there's a gem of a song for a legit voiced young singer in there. I did this one yeaaaaaars back as a young singer at a talent show, I'll never forget the audience reaction I got with this one! Rodgers and Hart made quite the team.
5) Pulled- The Addams Family
Wednesday has a hee-larious song in this show, and dare I say it, the best song in the whole show. Requires great deadpan skills as well as patter AND belt !
6) Whatever Happened to my Part? -Spamalot
The Lady of the Lake is suuuuch a good role. A soprano/ belt with great comedic chops has such a gift with this song!

Are you totally unafraid to be cartoonish and goofy? How are your high notes....awesome? If you answered " bring it on!" to all of that, this is a song for you!
