19 Rock Songs for Mezzo-Sopranos

The fiercest of all female rock vocalists happen to be mezzos.

Want some examples? I've got 'em!

Ann Wilson (the GODDESS! Ohhhh my, I saw her perform live a few times and she's still got it! ),  Grace Slick, Stevie Nicks, Janis Joplin, Linda Ronstadt, P!nk....to name a few!

If you're looking for an amazing rock solo for a mezzo-soprano, you've come to the right place. Here are 19 fantastic rock songs for mezzos that you're bound to love. And so will your adoring fans! Rock on!

Ohhh..and if you need help with some of the power notes?  You know who to turn to....me! Book a lesson right here.

What About Love?  - Heart
Ann Wilson was at her power note finest with this 80s rock ballad.  Fun fact: rock queen Grace Slick did background vocals. That's a lot of rock royalty for one song! What will YOU bring to it?

Gypsy-Fleetwood Mac
Ah, Stevie . She's just timelessly cool, am I right?

How Do I Make You?- Linda Ronstadt
I love an up-tempo Linda song with lots of attitude!

Crimson and Clover- Joan Jett
Joan's cover of the Tommy James hit is a good one. How is YOUR version?

Cry Baby- Janis Joplin
Think you can handle this one? Remember, there was only one Janis so don't even try to imitate her signature raspy sound. Just be YOU.

White Rabbit- Jefferson Airplane

This is actually one of my favorite ones to sing. I'll never ever be as cool as Grace Slick, but a gal can dream....

Kiss Me Deadly- Lita Ford
Liiiiiita. She still looks and sounds amazing.  This song will always be a banger.

Call Me- Blondie
Debbie Harry. What more is there to say? I know I've said a lot of these ladies are timelessly cool, 'cause they are....but Debbie? Yeah, 'nuff said. This song still sounds fresh and it's as old as I am (gulp!)

Bad Reputation- Joan Jett
Joan's back! This one is super high energy , up-tempo rocking fun. Go for it!

Crazy on You- Heart
Heart had so many incredible songs . You just can't go wrong with any of 'em.

So What- P!nk
What a voice she has! You do ,too- show it off with this big song!

Rhiannon- Fleetwood Mac
Timeless, mysterious.....it will always sound fantastic, this song!
Bring your black hat and tambourine! Or not.

Somebody to Love- Jefferson Airplane
Big big big song. Did I mention that Grace Slick is an icon?

Private Dancer- Tina Turner

Now, it wouldn't be a list of great mezzo-soprano rock solos if it didn't include QUEEN TINA!

Atomic- Blondie
The trick to owning any song Debbie Harry did ? Not trying to hard.

You're No Good- Linda Ronstadt
Is this Linda's best 70s single? You decide! Better yet- let your audience decide when YOU sing it!

U+ Ur Hand-P!nk
It takes the right kinda mezzo to REALLY sell this one (well, same can be said of any song on this list, really!). So, that mezzo.....you???

So, whaddya think? See one that jumps out at you?
Hope so, and you should use it at your next gig, audition, or karaoke night.

Happy singing!
